I know how to find people to network with and have a good conversation with them, but I don't know how to prompt action from them in terms of them suggesting people they can introduce me to or let me know about opportunities they hear about. Even when I ask outright, they say that they'll give it some thought or keep me in mind and then I never hear back. Going through their LinkedIn contacts doesn't usually work well: 1) it takes a long time to review each of their contacts individually; 2) Most of the time, if I ask about a contact, they say they don't really know them, or feel comfortable making an intro.
