We are hiring for an Engineering Project Lead who will support our First Class Seating Team in a range of products inclusive of both existing and NPI products. This position is for an experienced Project Lead with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise. In this role you can expect to manage medium to large size product development projects. Which can include developing project plans and budgets, perform critical analysis, pursue all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability, monitor project performance, identify and react to project problems and recommend solutions. Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the integrated product team through the development of bespoke first class seating products.
- Responsible for areas of planning, organization, and coordination of all engineering activities necessary to maintain customer satisfaction and to support execution of project deliverables and milestones on time and on budget.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for projects of varying size and scope. Can multi-task across multiple projects.
- Maintain the integrated master schedule for project(s), project and budget status, and prepares reports.
- Manage appropriate actions to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget.
- Oversee all phases of project development from inception through entry into service and directs the work of employees assigned on projects.
- Represent Collins as the primary customer point of contact for projects.
- Liaison between program management, engineering leadership, integrated project teams, operations, and suppliers.
- Pursue all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
- Perform critical path analysis and prepares and implements mitigation plans to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Identify and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
- Responsible for managing project risks and opportunities, and execution of mitigation actions and contingency plans.
- Exercise technical acuity and an understanding of commercial seating products
- Monitor and assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Support program quote activities and post-delivery program activities.
- Travel to support program deliverables, approximately travel up to 20% a year.
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
- Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Excel
- Experience with managing projects across functions and throughout the entire product cycle.
- Manufacturing industry experience developing physical products.
- Prior experience in managing projects for commercial aircraft interiors products.
- Experience managing full-cycle projects in a regulated industry.
