Date Posted:2024-02-08 Country:United States of America Location:HFL34: Melbourne, FL 1100 W Hibiscus Blvd , Melbourne, FL, 32902-2704 USA Position Role Type:Onsite Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Systems Hardware Engineer who is interested in applying their technical skills and experiences and working together with others to achieve excellence in design and efficient lifecycle execution as part of our Avionics Design Assurance Center (DAC) team in Melbourne, Florida. This position is responsible for working closely with engineering teams to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of Systems and Hardware/ASIC/FPGA product developments throughout their lifecycle. As a DAC Engineer, you will help ensure designs meet quality expectations, as well as customer, regulatory, and other requirements. To be successful in this position will require strong technical background on Systems/Hardware/Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) and a passion for quality, continuous process improvement as well as the ability to build rapport with the engineering project teams to influence adoption of engineering best practices. Primary Responsibilities: This position is responsible for working with engineering design and development teams throughout the development lifecycle to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of Systems and Hardware/ASIC/FPGA engineering development of Avionics products. Working with the engineering and Design Assurance team, you will:
- Perform proactive, ongoing technical and process assessments/oversight to determine the quality and health of engineering projects using objective criteria and known best practices through all phases of development lifecycle.
- Analyze, identify, and promote adoption of meaningful Quality metrics to find trends and systemic issues.
- Employ methods such as root cause analysis to develop recommended corrective actions and process improvements.
- Provide guidance to hardware and systems engineering teams as needed in the areas of process and regulatory requirements to ensure effective project execution.
- Establish rapport and credibility across the organization, including leadership, engineering teams, shared service teams, and customers.
- Influence others towards positive outcomes and foster adoption of value-added quality improvement.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience Hands-on experience as an engineer on a design & development project, including civil certification, across an entire product lifecycle from planning through verification and subsequent certification is required.
- Strong working knowledge of design process is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Hardware/ASIC/FPGA design and development across a product lifecycle is required.
- Demonstrated engineering tools expertise for configuration/change management, peer review and change tracking are required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate across different engineering groups and customers is required.
- RTCA DO-254 Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) development and verification experience.
- ARP4754A Systems development and certification experience.
- RTCA DO-160 environmental qualification testing experience.
- Knowledge of FAA Regulatory Requirements and / or experience in civil certification focal roles is preferred.
- Experience with RTCA DO-178
- Knowledge of effective Design Quality Assurance principles is preferred.
