Reality Labs Research (RL-R) brings together a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to create the future of augmented and virtual reality.Our team aims to define the worldwide standard for extended reality (XR) interaction with unparalleled software that accelerates research and creates novel capabilities.This requires a passion for accelerating researchers building models in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) research. In our collaborative environment, you’ll partner with expert research scientists, hardware engineers, and software developers to build groundbreaking wristbands. You will tackle interesting technical challenges in AI to revolutionize how people interact with computing devices. Step into the adventure of a lifetime as we make science fiction real and change the world!We are looking for a software engineer who can build mobile(Android) and desktop applications demonstrating advanced AR/VR capabilities, allowing both internal and external teams to explore the tradespace of AR/VR interactions. These applications will serve as research vehicles in their own right, but also as examples, templates and tutorials for other engineers and scientists to build on. You’ll partner with firmware, software and research engineers to ensure seamless integration across system components.Ultimately, you’ll foster scientific explorations and generate viable paths to the consumer products that will connect people in meaningful ways for decades to come. Together, let’s step into the adventure of a lifetime as we make science fiction real and change the world. Software Engineer - Mobile Interactions Responsibilities:
- You’ll partner with researchers, firmware engineers and other software engineers to define and develop interactive mobile applications for novel wristband devices running Android OS.
- The work will include Unity (C#), ReactJS and Android SDK (Java or Kotlin) development.
- Develop applications that serve as examples and templates for other researchers to quickly create their own demos, experiments and explorations using our toolkit.
- Serve as a link between the team and the researchers to help accelerate research progress and to inform our strategic plans to better align with future research needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years work experience with C/C++/C#, Java or Kotlin
- 3+ years work experience in mobile application development with Unity, Android SDK or ReactJS, including code maintenance and review.
- 2+ years experience developing software for games, autonomous vehicles, robotics or other high performance real-time environments
- Experience developing software with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
- Experience with UI frameworks such at Qt, PyQt
- Web development experience
- Python experience
- Experience supporting users of a Software Development Kit
- Developing AR/VR applications
