- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 20 years of experience leading software engineers across multiple geographies with a focus on networking platforms, load balancing, scalability, reliability, and high availability.
- Technical leadership experience, working with various infrastructure systems that have an impact on enterprise businesses.
Preferred qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience successfully building software and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience delivering successfully within demanding timelines.
- Understanding of private and public cloud design considerations and limitations in the areas of virtualization, global infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing, networking, massive data storage, Hadoop, MapReduce, and security with technical paper publications and conference engagements.
- Foundation in design, data structures, and algorithms, and excellent problem solving and debugging skills with customer-facing products experience.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
As Senior Director, you will be responsible for developing the virtual networking platform for all networking products in Google Cloud. This platform enables all of Cloud Networking including direct business and indirectly all of Google Cloud’s business. This platform supports the VPC and GKE networking in Google Cloud. Networking represents 60% of the customer-facing APIs in Google Cloud, processing high rates of change across zonal, regional, and global scopes with extremely high reliability goals.
In this role, you will have a good understanding of networking platforms and leading directors and senior managers, while being fully accountable for the strategic evolution of the platform, the organizational evolution of the team including hiring and performance management, and the cost and efficiency of the services comprising this platform

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Be responsible for developing the virtual networking platform for all networking products in Google Cloud, enabling all of Cloud Networking including direct business and indirectly all of Google Cloud’s business.
- Work with executive leadership, product, system managers, and technical leads across the Cloud Networking team, and with Site Reliability Engineering leaders owning these products and services.
- Understand and learn the various infrastructure systems, the scope and impact of these systems, and the underlying technology.
- Understand and evaluate the scalability, reliability, and scope of their systems, to ensure the technical leads are always a step ahead of customer demands.
