Date Posted:2024-03-20 Country:United States of America Location:HOR32: Wilsonville, OR 27300 SW Parkway , Wilsonville, OR, 97070-9215 USA Position Role Type:Onsite An opportunity is available in the Portland, Oregon metro area for a talented, motivated, experienced Systems Engineer II to design, develop, and test a variety of products including Head-Up Guidance Systems, Enhanced Vision Systems, and innovative new display products geared toward the military, air transport and corporate jet markets. With an emphasis on product quality, we are developing systems which bring improved value to the flight deck through enhanced situational awareness, lower operating minima, and added safety benefits. From being the Head-Up Display provider for the Boeing Dreamliner to the Head-Up Display provider for the Business Jets, Collins Aerospace continues to build trust every day. Our System Engineering team is responsible for head-up guidance and enhanced vision systems. System Engineers define overall functionality of a system in addition to the interfaces with other aircraft systems, and the verification and validation of the correct implementation of these defined characteristics, as well as certification and qualification. System Engineering transitions technologies from research and development into full production rate, qualified products. System Engineering may also be involved with regulatory agencies or interface with major OEMs. Primary Responsibilities:
- Works on multiple projects to assist in the technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, evaluating alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
- Performs analyses at all levels of total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Conducts engineering processes using standard work, including verification and qualification procedures.
- Synthesize analyses of data and uses the results to prepare technical reports of findings and recommendations.
- Seeks to identify possible problems presented in applicable projects that may cause a delay or exceed budget. Contributes to finding appropriate solutions.
- Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
- Considers and evaluates alternatives accounting for similar metrics.
- Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Performs architectural exploration.
- Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
- Willing to Travel as needed (likely travel 10%)
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- Experience with avionics or other aircraft system development and certification.
- Experience developing systems that are compliant with ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and DO-254.
- Experience with ARINC standards: ARINC 429, ARINC 664, ARINC 818 and ARINC 661.
- Experience with safety-critical, real-time, embedded system development
- Experience with JAMA/JIRA and earned value to track project progress
- Experience leading a team of system engineers
- Experience with Matlab is a plus
