Compensation Range: 150,000-173,900 

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.  

Job Purpose

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for the Li-ion engineering needs for Medical cell manufacturing and test, Development of 18650 product line and re-establishing the Space 72 Ah cell manufacturing. Each project has active contracts that need this support.  This role will be responsible to develop and execute design planning to meet customer needs and schedules and provide a technical leadership within the team.  This includes establishing product and process feasibility, launching new programs, implementing new products and product changes, eliminating engineering issues, implementing corrective action plans to improve products/processes and reducing internal/external costs.  The Principal Engineer has a critical role in supporting all phases of product development from proof-of-concept (POC) to a qualified product.  
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Principal Engineer will have responsibility for development of the Design Engineering and Product development
  • Responsibility for planning of tasks and activities for the engineers to meet project and financial goals
  • Develop and promote relationships with potential and established customers
  • Plan and execute capital expenditures improvements
  • Support business development in assessing and responding to new opportunities
  • The Principal Engineer will assist multi-disciplinary (thermal, electrical, mechanical) analyses and review technical reports to support programs
  • Communicate directly with technical personnel in customer organizations to provide product data, field technical questions, and support technical reviews
  • Assist in the development of technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Participate in investigations, resolutions, and product improvement meetings
  • Support the mentorship and development of other engineers

Qualifications

  • PhD Electrochemistry or equivalent
  • 20 years+ li-ion battery experience
  • Li-ion production knowledge and expertise
  • Published technical papers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products
  • Travel as needed
