Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Principal Program Quality Engineer / Sr. Principal Program Quality Engineer for Charlottesville, VA

The selected candidate will:

Establish and apply strong technical knowledge in quality engineering, specification/standards, drawing interpretation, measurement and analysis methods, processes and products, and relevant technologies.

Identify and resolve complex technical and quality problems, issues, and defects on the production floor through problem-solving methodology, root cause investigations and root cause investigation and corrective action implementations.

Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process, and/or other control procedures.

Interface directly with subcontractor personnel and assess both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.

Manage subcontractor requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process.

Coordinate/collaborate with external quality teams in data gathering, problem-solving, and risk mitigation to ensure quality standards are in place and maintained.

Communicate program execution status and quality metrics to a wide audience of professionals and leadership.

Review and evaluate non-conforming material for compliance to drawings, specifications, and standards.

Provide engineering and manufacturing support for the inspection and quality engineering organization, while assisting in the corrective action board (CAB) and data-gathering and analysis.

Facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action activities, and drive to closure.

Perform manufacturing assessments and audits while collaborating with the compliance team.

Conduct evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Be willing to travel to subcontractor sites (east coast U.S.) to support final acceptance testing and customer buyoff.

This position may be filled at a level 3 or 4, depending on experience.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:
Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field.
Relevant experience of 5+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 3+ Years with Masters; 0+ Years with PhD.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, US citizenship.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management.
Experience with an enterprise resource planning and/or manufacturing execution systems such as SAP.
Experience leading projects and/or teams.
Must have demonstrated ability to interpret CAD data, blueprints and schematics.
Must have demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues.

Ability to travel a minimum of 50% (U.S. east coast vendor visits and Bethpage, NY site).

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in Aerospace and/or Maritime in a manufacturing Quality role.
Possess technical knowledge of SAE AS9100 quality management system and related AS91xx standards , and IPC Industry Standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and/or IPC-A-620).
Demonstrated medium to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, PowerPoint, Excel (e.g. working with pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH/COUNTIF, conditional formatting, etc).

Salary Range: $84,200 - $126,400
Salary Range 2: $104,400 - $156,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
