The Project Manager owns the product lifecycle of all electronic controls and software programs, beginning with a vision for technology advancement, process discipline during design and development while supporting manufacturing. The ECS Digital Controls Project Engineering Manager will directly manage ~5 associates, with a total team consisting of ~30 engineers which will grow congruent with new business wins. As part of a matrix organization, this position will coordinate the execution of projects with the entire Value Stream including Global Engineering and Global Operations. This is a Value Stream and customer facing role that will need to succinctly communicate progress and act as the focal point for resolving critical Engineering issues with internal and external customers. The Manager is an advocate for acquiring, retaining, and developing the best talent to ensure programs are properly staffed to succeed. This role can be Hybrid based out of Windsor Locks, CT, and reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering for Digital Controls. Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. May be eligible for relocation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Propose, manage, and drive ECS Digital Controls projects and initiatives to ensure successful completion within planned time and budget constraints while meeting customer expectations.
- Collaborate with functional managers and the entire Value Stream to develop and execute the tasks aligned with the required Engineering Standard Work activities.
- Collaborate with the Value Stream to provide engineering technical support for both factory operations and field service teams.
- Thorough knowledge and experience leading an engineering team through the requirements of DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160 standards
- Communicate with internal and external customers including senior executive levels to provide engineering progress reports
- Develop and direct strategies to align the product line engineering team with business goals.
- Develop long-term plans to improve engineering productivity via standardization, advanced methods, tools and processes and low-cost engineering sourcing.
- Analyze engineering systems and processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop engineering investment and technology strategy to support business capture strategy and growth.
- Lead multi-functional teams, including Global Engineering resources, to resolve unusually complex and high priority business problems and projects.
- Champion a strong customer centric culture which empowers the team through trust.
- 10% Travel is expected
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
