This position is responsible for working closely with engineering teams to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of product developments throughout their lifecycle. As a DAC team member, you will help ensure designs meet quality expectations, as well as customer, regulatory, and other requirements. To be successful in this position will require a passion for quality, and continuous improvement and the ability to build rapport with the engineering project teams in order to influence adoption of engineering best practices. Job Responsibilities
- With the guidance from the Design Assurance team and your leadership, the process analyst will:
- Plan and perform proactive, ongoing assessments to determine the quality health of engineering projects using objective criteria and known best practices
- Analyze project health data for identification and communication of trends and systemic issues.
- Employ methods such as root cause analysis to develop recommended corrective actions and process improvements.
- Provide guidance to engineering teams as needed in the areas of process and regulatory requirements to ensure effective project execution.
- Help to assure a proactive, healthy relationship within the DAC team and the development teams we support
- Perform audits and work with Engineering and DAC teams to resolve quality and civil certification related compliance issues
- Assist with engineering project planning activities to ensure plans account for program requirements and past lessons learned, with emphasis on civil certification and quality management system objectives
- Advise project teams and leadership of design quality trends and systemic issues, and of working with others to investigate, determine root cause, and recommend corrective actions to deliver high quality designs
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with engineering design processes
- Experience creating and following a documented development process (i.e. DO-178, DO-254, etc)
- A proven track record of meeting commitments while supporting multiple simultaneous projects
- Must possess a strong attention to detail and apply insightful judgment in order to properly assure compliance and assess necessary quality related improvements – focus on what is most important for positive outcomes.
- Ability to work autonomously with an inquisitive approach on assigned tasks while not hesitating to ask for help or support on issues you cannot control
- An ability to establish rapport and influence positive outcomes with all levels of the organization and external customers
- Ability to influence others towards positive outcomes and foster adoption of value added improvements.
- Experience working with hardware development teams
- Ability to read and verify against hardware and/or test drawings
- JIRA proficiency
- DOORS proficiency
- Familiarity with Collins processes such as Peer review, configuration management, and release processes
- Working knowledge of Boeing and/or Airbus related project execution
- Knowledge of effective Design Quality Assurance principles
- Knowledge of FAA Regulatory Requirements and / or experience with civil certifications
