About the role: 

The “Competitive Intelligence and Pricing Strategy” team is a data driven strategic function within the Pricing & Underwriting department in Optum Rx’s Dublin office. It is dedicated to identifying, curating and leveraging pricing data to drive analysis and the extraction of actionable insights. It works cross functionally across a broad panel of business partners to turn these data driven insights into actionable pricing strategies.

The team continues to refine the organizational structures to maintain a sustainable function and process internal to Optum RX for the collection, analysis, translation of market competitiveness into existing processes. All this informs our pricing strategies and enables the business to achieve specific economic targets and plans. This dovetails into how terms and financial guarantees are defined and how these are carried forward into contract negotiations. Equally, how these strategies are taken forward into implementation, how operational parameters are defined to determine client profitability, and how live and emerging issues are fed back into pricing requires dedicated oversight.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Engage with stakeholders to understand strategic requirements to inform your solutions/ delivery
• Independently, or working with the team, develop data/ analytical-driven solutions to deliver tools/ analyses to meet requirements
• Leading solution delivery projects; ensuring the delivery of robust, sustainable and scalable solutions while engaging with IT and business partners
• Be self-directed in interrogating data to shape your analyses
• Recommend innovative ideas and/or procedures to improve existing strategies
• Present to audiences of varying organizational roles and hierarchy levels
• Develop solid working relationships with key partners across the business
• Influence senior management decisions that impact business direction

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in analytical roles using SQL and one or more of the following R, Python or similar
• Experience creating visualizations using Power BI or similar, to tell a compelling story with data and effectively deliver actionable insights
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, a solid work ethic, and demonstrated teamwork skills
• Ability to take ownership, function independently and effectively within teams and in a self-directed environment
• Highly motivated, change/innovation agent and self-starter
• Solid communication skills, able to work with stakeholders from multiple levels and disciplines
• Ability to influence others and achieve common goals
• The ability to work a portion of monthly work hours from our Dublin office is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in MS Azure
• Competency evaluating existing business processes, designing, communicating, planning and effecting change
• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, physics, engineering, finance, economics etc.)
• Experience in managed health care or pharmacy benefit management
• Experience working with transactional data
