About the role:

The Senior Planning and Strategy Manager is a critical role that will drive Marketing revenue and pipeline contribution planning. This role will partner cross-functionally to realize growing revenue targets, scale the organization sustainably, and address new business opportunities and challenges. 

This critical role is responsible for determining the most effective channels, markets, and levers needed to achieve our 3-year growth goals. You will help answer important and ambiguous strategic questions - influencing both Marketing and Sales leadership investment plans. We are looking for someone analytical and creative as well as a leader and collaborator.

This role is open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Area (125 mi. radius from 1 De Haro St, San Francisco) and NYC Metro Area (50 mi. radius from 131 W 55th St, New York).

In this role, you will: 

  • Synthesize insights from multiple parts of the business into consumable and actionable summaries
  • Lead analytics programs for end-to-end planning, marketing team performance and channel effectiveness, and Samsara’s growth forecast
  • Work cross-functionally with our Finance and Marketing teams to ensure our plan is synchronized with our top-of-funnel and other financial metrics
  • Partner directly with senior sales leadership to lead our business review process, driving analysis to understand team performance and trajectory and identify opportunities for accelerated growth
  • Be a strategic thought partner to various stakeholders across the broader go-to-market teams at Samsara (Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, etc.) and influence decision-making with data and analytics
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to solve business problems, generate operational efficiencies, and deliver successfully against high organizational standards
  • Be a strong leader, and draw upon solid analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Drive efficiencies that lead to tangible ROI on projects completed
  • Identify strategic areas of growth and recommend additional investments, including areas such as new international areas, industry verticals, and customer segments
  • Partner with Strategic Finance on financial forecasts and provide inputs on sales productivity, sales performance, and cost of sale trends
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Sample the Customer Experience, Have a bias for action, Work backward from Winning, Have discipline, BE Intellectually Honest, Keep a High Bar, Solve Problems Together) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 6+ years of experience in Consulting, Finance, Business Operations, Sales Operations or other analytical role
  • Ability to conduct sophisticated and creative analysis of complex data and translate the results into actionable insights, deliverables, messages, and proposals
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects on a tight deadline
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills
  • Sound business judgment, a proven ability to influence others, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses, and influencing results
  • Ability to build strong relationships with executives (EVP of Sales / Marketing, Marketing VPs, Finance Directors) and cross-functional partners
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and enthusiastic about improving efficiencies
  • Strong skillset with analytical tools (e.g., spreadsheet models, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel) and willingness to expand skill set to tackle new problems 

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience with B2B go-to-market strategies and identifying areas of opportunity and optimization
  • Hands-on experience working with Databricks and/or Google BigQuery
  • Data Science, machine learning, or predictive analytics experience
  • Experience with Salesforce

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. 

We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$130,900$176,000 USD
