- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in utility procurement, energy project development, or finance/consulting roles.
- 6 years of experience negotiating and structuring agreements or leading business development.
- Experience with energy transaction structuring and negotiations, US power markets (e.g., wholesale and retail), utility rates, transmission or generation resource planning, and carbon-free energy technologies.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Ability to coordinate with energy experts and non-experts on projects requiring inputs from multiple teams.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.
As an Energy Structuring Negotiator on the Global Data Centers team, you will lead efforts in creating, deploying, and scaling global energy initiatives. You will have the opportunity to source and lead new methods and structures to achieve carbon reduction goals across our global energy supply portfolio, interfacing with various external stakeholders. You will act as our techno-commercial lead interfacing with external parties and work cross-functionally and internally to coordinate our commercial and operations teams to execute on projects.
- Lead transactions negotiations and structuring for energy supply, power infrastructure, and other data center energy agreement, including power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, interconnection agreements, partnerships, etc.
- Help set strategy for Google's energy procurement program, including renewable and carbon-free energy procurement in support of Google's clean energy goals.
- Perform analyses (e.g., agreement structuring, power market analysis, financial forecasting), and develop salient recommendations based on modeling.
- Contribute to the growth of Google's data center portfolio through energy due diligence during site selection and data center project development.
- Develop and lead agreement approvals, investment memos, and other transaction related materials with executives and partner teams. Manage strategic relationships with key suppliers including utilities, project developers, and technology providers.
