We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our Backbone team to support the expansion of our global network. This is an ideal role for a Transport Planner that wants to work on a purpose built and ever expending network that touches and changes the lives of billions for the better every day.

Network & Infrastructure Transport Planner Responsibilities:

• Apply domain expertise in Data Center, CDN architecture, IP Routing and/or Optical Engineering to develop topology to sizing plans for one or more domains of the network
• Provide Technical leadership to peer group on network planning, resiliency, design principles
• Analyze traffic capacity projections and develop an optical transport network capacity plan accordingly
• Network design, accounting for technological capabilities and network routing, to ensure scaling requirements and resiliency for the network are met
• Oversee fiber topology evolution of the backbone to achieve resiliency, and latency requirements
• Model ad hoc, what-if scenarios, including greenfield and brownfield demand and supply scenarios to set strategy
• Analyze simulations results to identify influential drivers and build key indicators to validate designs recommendations into production
• Investigate collections of network failure and routing behaviors, and create simulation tests to improve network efficiency and network reliability metrics
• Follow the developments of IP or Optical technology roadmaps and capabilities
• Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Sourcing to support backbone fiber acquisitions strategies

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in transport network planning in mission critical production environment
• 3+ years experience optical link design, wavelength assignment, and coherent modulation schemes etc.
• Knowledge of network topology and experience in building resiliency design
• Experience with network modeling tools such as NPS, One Planner, OPNET or Cariden, WAE, Aria, WANDL or other in-house tool
• BS or MS Degree in an Engineering or Analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Management Science) or equivalent experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Programming experience in Python or similar language

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with both terrestrial and submarine networks
• 5+ years of experience in Data Center, CDN or Backbone Design is preferred.
