The Burnsville site produces sensors and integrated video systems that serve all three portfolios (Commercial Avionics, Business & Reginal Avionics & Military Avionics and Helicopters) for the Avionics strategic business unit with Collins Aerospace.  As the Operations Site Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our Burnsville site’s operations including the I4.0 Transformation. You will play a pivotal role in leading a diverse team and ensuring the sites safety, productivity, and efficiency.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and management skills, a deep understanding of operational processes, and the ability to implement strategies that drive continuous improvement. 

  

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

  • Lead the execution of operations and projects to meet established targets and metrics, including an average of 900 total employees.  

  • Establish and oversee long term organizational goals and objectives to ensure alignment with broader organizational targets and strategies.  

  • Strategize and design production plans, balancing tactical and strategic demands considering product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply constraints, schedules, and staffing requirements to meet operational objectives and business unit goals.  

  • Direct the development and implementation of activities in production areas to ensure timely, high-quality production at the lowest cost consistent with the quality requirements.   

  • Serve as primary champion for quality improvement, CORE and Six Sigma programs at the sites - accountable for reduction of inventory, cost and waste.   

  • Drive improvement in productivity by implementing process automation and best practices.  

  • Develop strategic facilities plan and ensure cap-x alignment and on plan.   

  • Drive cost reduction and synergy plans across operations organization.   

  • Establish strategy for a multi-functional team including EH&S, facilities, planning, manufacturing engineering, training, logistics and operations to ensure the Burnsville site operations meets business strategy goals and objectives.  

  • Ensure adherence and execution to all EHS policies and procedures 

 

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE: 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 18 years of relevant experience. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:  

  • 4+ years of experience as a manufacturing site lead.  

  • Experience with a site transformation.  

  • Experience with practical application of CORE, Toyota Production System, or LEAN methodology to drive improvement. 

  • Utility talent with experience in roles within the value stream outside of Manufacturing   

  • Ability to lead in challenging times (COVID, WOTF) and displays the change management acumen to lead people where they might not go themselves.  

  • Experience in process automation.  

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.

The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
