Summary

Assist the Automation Controls Engineer and Maintenance team on troubleshooting, projects, and modifying existing plc programs and control systems.

 

Ownership

  • Supports the development of Milos’s Tea Company automation projects from both a technical perspective and through business intelligence and expertise.

  • Troubleshoots and can install components of controls systems, such as 4-20ma/0-10V analog inputs and outputs, photo-eyes, switches, and is knowledgeable with motor drives, and servo motors.

  • Reads, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical schematics.

  • Edits, downloads, and uploads programs in RS Logix 5000, RS Logix500, and Studio 5000 to maintain systems.  

  • Use Allen Bradley suites, ME Transfer tool, Factory Talk Linx Network Browser, RS Linx Classic, and other platforms.

  • Has a basic understanding of how networks of systems operate and is able to troubleshoot systems from a networking perspective.

  • Diagnose problems with ladder logic and support maintenance when necessary.

  • Follow safety policy and procedures including, but not limited to, lock out-tag-out, hot work permit, and confined space.

  • Uphold and participate in all Corporate Responsibility programming, including recycling, social advocacy, and MMAD volunteering opportunities.

  • This position has responsibilities essential to Food Safety.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related electrical/software technical field is required, and 3 years of experience in ladder logic, networking, and controls systems. Experience in PLC, HMI, and Microsoft Office Suite. Expert knowledge in electrical schematics, piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), tags, and symbols. Experience with Siemens Step 7, Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000, and Ladder Logic is preferred.

  • Some experience in design aspects of P&IDs, instrument ISA data sheets, instrument installation details, low voltage wiring, physical conduit routing and cable tray design, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams and schematics, including motor control.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.

Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus, regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and to wet and/or humid conditions, and occasional exposure to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
