We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague, who is driven, accurate and service-oriented, to join our EMENA Legal team based in The Netherlands. In this role you will be relied upon to provide a wide range of support to legal counsels and our business teams, primarily on contract administration and drafting. This position encompasses a variety of tasks and responsibilities and requires perseverance, commitment and self-initiative.
The position is stationed at our European Headquarters (Oegstgeest, the Netherlands), with the option for some remote work as the workplace evolves. This role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel, EMENA.
Main Responsibilities:
Manage contract administration process - intake of requests and questions; triage of requests to ensure appropriate resource allocation; assist with obtaining needed information for contract processing.
Understand commercial background of transactions, review and revise initial and subsequent contract drafts in collaboration with Legal Counsels and sometimes independently.
Be proficient at various types of agreements such as confidentiality agreements, procurement agreements, rebate agreements, general sales and purchase conditions & agreements, development agreements, as well as amendments thereof.
Manage third party screening process of suppliers and customers
Provide contract related training to internal and external stakeholders
Litigation administration process management including preparing litigation reports and accrual reports, and potentially being involved in gathering evidence in support of claims and defenses and maintenance of accurate matter files.
Support quarterly budgeting and forecasting process
Additional Responsibilities:
Serve as back-up to department paralegal(s) supporting the management of corporate entities and all business units.
Take an active role in department effectiveness and efficiency projects (streamlining processes, creating templates, and training)
Qualifications
Higher education/degree in Law or related field (or equivalent experience managing and drafting commercial contracts)
2+ years of demonstrated success in a similar role and customer service-oriented environment
Significant substantive knowledge and skills concerning drafting and legal effect of commercial contract provisions and transactions
Knowledge of legal entity management is a plus but not required if committed to learning the area
Knowledge of litigation support and management is a plus but not required if committed to learning the area
Consistent eye for detail, accurate and high standards for all work output is critical
Independent, curious, and flexible thinker who is a self-starter for problem-solving
Active and enthusiastic learner, with demonstrated ability to learn new areas
Demonstrated business acumen
Highest standard of integrity, ethics and demonstrated ability to keep all matters handled and information received in the strictest confidence
Excellent computer skills: proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel. Ability to reformat a Word document to a high level of perfection and professionalism
Fluency in English for contracts and legal documents is required. Additional language fluencies for legal matters are highly desirable.
