POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks in one or more fields expertise including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect needed repairs.

• Perform minor electrical maintenance including the replacement or repair of fixtures, switches, bulbs, fuses, outlets, and appliances.

• Perform minor plumbing maintenance such as the repair of leaks, unclogging of drains and the replacement of drain hoses.

• Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work.

• Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices to accommodate user needs.

• Move furniture and prepare workspaces and other items as requested.

• Document all work in CMMS and maintain required documents.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to work flexible hours which may including nights and weekends.

• Uphold and participate in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy and MMAD volunteering opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• All applicants must have a High school diploma or Trade or Vocational School; and have at least 2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance to include HVAC experience and a basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

• EPA Universal Certification Required.

• Applicants must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, drawings and memos.

• Applicants must have the ability to write correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.

• Applicants must also have basic computer and mathematics skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, see, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met or that an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
