Position SummaryPosition Summary:
The Director Demand Planning acts as a central point of contact for commercial teams during the demand planning process. This role will create and maintain analytical forecast models, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, product development, engineering, and other sources. This individual will aggregate global demand for products across all phases of the life cycle, to include New Product Introduction (NPI) and End-of-Sale (EOS) / End-of-Life (EOL). She/He will also work with cross-functional partners to capture non-revenue generating demand, to include prototypes, trials, and events.
As the business continues to evolve and grow, she/he will be responsible for developing tools and capabilities that support Light & Wonder’s strategic imperatives and transformation objectives that drive forecast accuracy as well as profitability and efficient cash flow.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Lead demand planning activities and ensure collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop monthly/weekly forecasts for specific product(s)/customer(s)/channel(s) as assigned/needed based on the business needs and maintain forecasts that align with the strategies and objectives of the business.
- Track KPIs and provide reports that give visibility of the planning cycle; compile line of business forecast accuracy and bias data and drive proactive action plans to address issues/gaps including constructive challenging of the sales and operations teams as needed.
- Represent Demand Planning in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes to highlight risks, opportunities, and trends within the business.
- Optimize statistical forecast models while developing scalable systematic solutions for future growth and process improvement.
- Continue to further develop and prioritize additional capabilities and dashboards within the planning system solution.
- Support Finance and Sales to improve profitability by advising the best mix of product, KPI performance, turns, and end-of-life management.
- Drive the generation of demand inputs for the annual budgeting process; compare forecasts to the supply plan, provide leadership a clear overview of variances, uncertainty, and risk areas to the business
- Facilitate meeting sets by which demand plans are communicated to supply operations and become aligned with supportable corresponding supply plans.
- Manage demand exception process by receiving and assessing changes to existing plans and communicate with urgency and transparency as to trade-off impacts.
- Develop and lead scenario planning exercises in conjunction with product strategy development. Create and utilize tools to aid in the assessment of demand and supply implications and inform teams of strategic options.
- Maintain a strong culture of customer focus and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent management experience. MBA preferred.
- 5-7 years of supply chain, forecasting, or planning experience.
- APICS, CPIM or CPM certification preferred
- IBP, S&OP training
Preferred Traits, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to collaborate with finance, product development, project management, and global supply chain partners.
- Experience in new product introduction, scenario planning, and end-of-life management.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and building/developing reports.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills as well as the ability to manage large data sets.
- Operate with a high degree of connectedness, transparency, and clarity to ensure common understanding of requirements, issues, and actions; listen to stakeholders and distill information into pertinent and actionable content.
- Ability to adapt to the pace and dynamic nature of the business; process data, information and feedback with speed and communicate outcomes, alternatives and actions plans with appropriate urgency.
- Ability to maintain a strategic view while operating at a level of fine detail; correlate portfolio priorities and strategy to daily operations and decision making within the supply chain environment.
- Must have a strong analytical background.
