The Software Security Sensors and Effectors Department’s mission is to provide world class Security Software to be used in deployed missile systems. Our software teams employ an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers. The Patriot Program is seeking a talented Cybersecurity Engineer (CE) to join our team. This individual will be the Cybersecurity Chief Product Owner (CPO) responsible for the development and management of the cybersecurity scope on the Patriot Product Line. Communication and collaboration with the other engineering disciplines is required to ensure alignment of the cyber posture within the program and customer’s requirements.  The person in this role will be responsible for all aspects of cybersecurity engineering including team development, staffing, Earned Value Management, technical roadmaps, and integrated partnership with all engineering disciplines in the Patriot portfolio. The successful candidate will have a security conscious approach to take into consideration the systems level effect to resolving complex programs and the ability to convince leadership that the proposed solution is best for the mission (including program cost and schedule as well as the technical solution).  The individual will work with the Cyber team in the maintenance and acquisition of Risk Management Framework ATOs, support tech refresh and system upgrades, and provide strategic input and planning for the system, applications, architecture and design in a dynamic environment.  The individual will also develop and track key roadmaps and deliverables.

This position is a fulltime onsite role located in Tewksbury MA.

What You Will Do:

  • Be the Cybersecurity Chief Product Owner for the Patriot Product Line portfolio and accountable for cost, technical, schedule, and team growth within the product line.

  • Lead and build a diverse team of cyber professionals.

  • Implement proper cybersecurity requirements and coordinate implementation across the other engineering disciplines.

  • Be accountable for all Risk Management Framework Authorization to Operate/Authority to Connect for the system(s)

  • Defining security requirements and design solutions, providing guidance and direction related to security technologies.

  • Performing analysis on security collected data and test results

  • Identifying and implementing security design and preparing and maintaining engineering and security related documentation.

  • Defining and developing cybersecurity requirements, design, and architecture artifacts, strategy, plans, and policies.

  • Perform and/or provide guidance and oversight on vulnerability assessments; defining, negotiating, and executing Assessment and Authorization (A&A) events.

  • Define security development and test efforts implementation of security controls of networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware and software components.

  • Conducting technical and nontechnical trade studies, analysis, reviews identify.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and twelve (12) years of engineering experience.

  • Experience with Cybersecurity requirements and implementation.

  • Experience in security engineering involving various computer hardware and software operating system.  

  • Experience with IA vulnerability testing and related network and system test tools such as, ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, Evaluate-STIG

  • Experience implementing IA Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes, IA controls and developing and maintaining associated documentation.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with security features and/or vulnerability of various operating systems as defined by NSA, NIST, DISA (STIGs) and USCYBERCOM.

  • Experience with network and system security administration, including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for MS Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and CISCO systems.

  • DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level-III Compliant Certification

  • Familiar with NIST Risk Management Framework as described in NIST Special Publication 800-37.

  • Familiar with Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.2 and DoDI 5200.39.

  • Experience working U.S. Government contract proposals as an Information Assurance Engineer subject matter expert.

  • Security related Network (e.g. Cisco) and Operating System certification or training.

  • Self-starter requiring limited direction and supervision.

  • Ability to support periodic travel.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
