The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2600+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, project Management, functional system testing, installation supervision, documentation and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest Operations hub. The India Operations Centre team at Chennai, Bangalore and Gurugram supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Hitachi Energy To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Mission Statement:

As a Transformer Services Tendering Specialist, you will play a critical role in the tendering process for transformer services. You will work closely with the sales and project management teams to prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals for transformer services projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand client requirements, project scope, and technical specifications for transformer services. This includes reviewing client tender documents, drawings, and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project.

  • Conduct a detailed analysis of project requirements, including equipment, materials, labor, and any additional services or subcontracting needed. Prepare accurate cost estimates for the project, accounting for all relevant factors, such as transportation, permits, and contingency plans.

  • Based on the gathered information and cost estimation, develop comprehensive and competitive proposals for transformer services. This includes outlining project timelines, deliverables, and pricing, ensuring alignment with client expectations and needs. Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Coordinate and collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure their ability to meet project requirements and timelines. Evaluate and select the appropriate suppliers and subcontractors in consultation with the project management team.

  • Ensure compliance with all client requirements, industry standards, and regulations in the tendering process. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all tender-related activities, including bid documentation, pricing updates, and communication records.

  • Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to align on project strategies, schedules, and deliverables. Act as a liaison between the company and potential clients during the tendering process, addressing their queries, and providing necessary information.

  • Provide information to the risk review process in accordance with Hitachi Energy Ltd. policy and sometimes participates in the risk review assessment.

  • Perform lost proposal analysis, identifies potential cause, and recommends future actions in cooperation with Sales/Local Business Unit to obtain better future results.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

  • 2-5 years of experience, with a combination of Engineering and Order Handling experience

  • Knowledge in Transformer & Transformer Service portfolio - preferred

  • Basic understanding of Electrical and Mechanical systems and good SAP knowledge.

  • Proficiency with CRM and BI tool landscape.

  • Capability to read and understand BOM.

  • Should have marketing and Sales acumen (with previous customer-facing experience preferably).

  • Ability to handle many proposals simultaneously and perform data entry for proposals & orders using internal tools.

  • Proven development and maintenance of positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, clients and others in contact with the job.

  • Proven interpersonal abilities with peers, colleagues, superiors, customer, suppliers and service providers.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with strong organization and time management.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
