Job Purpose

Directs financial activities of the Plant in compliance with Corporate policies and Accounting guidelines.  Provides data and input to guide management in making strategic financial decisions for the Plant.  Establishes and monitors internal controls in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP), Corporate guidelines and financial audits.  Lead on-site Accounting position reporting to the Plant Manager, with accountability to the Corporate Finance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

⦁    Directs financial activities of the Plant under Corporate policies and guidelines.  Provides management with accurate financial information to measure and guide Plant operations.  Uses data and reporting tools to suggest strategies to minimize costs, improve departmental productivity and Plant efficiency. Collaborates with and presents information to managers, Corporate executives, and Corporate Accounting staff.  Ensures a high level of confidentiality related to Plant and Company financial data.

⦁    Issues Plant financial statements, oversees closing of the books on a monthly and annual basis and ensures the accurate and timely processing of operational, financial and cost accounting information as required by management.  Develops strategies to protect Company assets, establishes internal controls and provides information to internal and external auditors.

⦁    Oversees general ledger activities including payroll, expense and account reconciliation and variance analysis.  Monitors and reviews accounting reports from various software applications for accuracy and scope of data.

⦁    Oversees and prepares the annual Plant budget as well as monthly forecasts for both operational and statistical projections based on accurate financial data.  

⦁    Manages the annual physical inventory processes investigating large or unusual inventory gains or losses.  Tracks inventory turns & monitors monthly cycle count results and material usage variances.

⦁    Establishes, implements and maintains Accounting control procedures.  Ensures compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.  Ensures Plant financial practices comply with local, state, and federal laws and Corporate policies.  Provides input to Plant and Corporate management in support of the Company’s financial goals and directives.

⦁    Optimizes the use of software applications to ensure data integrity and provide accurate and timely reporting to aid management in decision-making and development of financial strategies.  Participates in EnerSys Operating System (EOS) Lean Manufacturing activities and supplies requested financial data for EOS events and initiatives.  Tracks Efficiency-100, (E-100) cost-saving initiatives for submission to Corporate.

⦁    Completes other duties as assigned by management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Manages/supervises Accounting personnel.  Provides regular feedback to employees using Continuous Performance Management tools.  Fosters a positive working environment by providing leadership, consistent communication and seeking employee input.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
⦁    Ability to communicate confidently in a team environment and at the corporate level.
⦁    Ability to operate in a highly confidential manner with executive access to manufacturing control systems, schedules/production levels, product and component cost information, vendor performance data, material specifications, engineering drawings and documentation, defect records and corrective actions and payroll information.
⦁    Demonstrable self-initiative with a clear understanding of overall Company goals and objectives.
⦁    Ability to perform self-directed work and assist Accounting Department personnel as a leader and resource.
⦁    Ability to analyze data, recognize developing trends and prioritize/strategize solutions quickly and accurately.
⦁    Advanced skill in analyzing data and solving problems.
⦁    High-level of understanding of accounting functions and demonstrable mathematic skill with the priority of accuracy.
⦁    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, Corporate visitors, vendors, auditors, customers, and the public.
⦁    Ability to cooperate as a member of the Plant management team, offering accounting expertise, providing “what ifs”, and other data to represent the financial perspective.
⦁    Knowledge of labor laws, payroll practices and EnerSys policies.
⦁    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to offer persuasive positions related to financial conditions, productivity/efficiency and strategic direction.
⦁    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
⦁    Ability to direct the work of others providing guidance while maintaining a productive and positive work environment.
⦁    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.  
⦁    Advanced ability to create spreadsheets, perform database management and report generation.
⦁    Ability to adapt quickly to constant priority/deadline changes and move between tasks efficiently.
⦁    Ability to perform advanced computer tasks including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database applications and reporting functions of the above.
⦁    Skill using 10 key functions.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or the equivalent plus 10 years’ professional experience overseeing financial/accounting operations in a competitive business environment.

Preferred:  Management/supervisory experience preferred.  Financial expertise in Manufacturing a plus.  Experience with ERP systems, including SAP, preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.  Professional affiliations a plus.  Project management experience beneficial.
