Audio Visual & Event Support Technician:

The Event Production Team, part of the IT family at Expedia Group, is responsible for delivering high-end value to Expedia’s internal and external global events. We are a tight group of passionate and creative individuals who consistently support each other in delivering first-class performance in our productions. We are looking for a new team member: a dynamic individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment as an Audiovisual enthusiast. The ideal candidate is confident and experienced in the Audiovisual field, passionate about learning and implementing new technologies on top of maintaining the existing inventory in good order.

What you'll do:

  • You will make timely and accurate diagnoses of system-related problems, distinguishing between hardware, software, and network issues, and work in conjunction with other IT operations/engineering groups to provide resolutions.
  • You will be expected to take ownership of technology related to events and executive townhalls, leading problem resolution activities among multiple parties to resolve incidents and problems.
  • You will be integrating and optimizing audio, video, lighting, and staging to achieve the best quality possible.
  • Must be able to identify risks, ask the right questions, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • You will develop and maintain support documentation for use by all levels of support personnel, sharing knowledge with other team members on processes and workflows.
  • You will be expected to have a high attention to detail and communicate effectively with all levels of seniority.
  • You will manage vendor estimates and labor costs, as well as technical resource scheduling for equipment and labor.
  • You will work with other Expedia Group teams, such as product and marketing, in planning and helping delivering events onsite at Expedia Group offices.
  • You will assist customers with planning meetings and walk-throughs, providing supporting documentation and aligning with different stakeholders.
  • Some shift work may be required, and flexibility for weekends is needed in certain projects, sometimes requiring travel to other Expedia Group locations for event support and production delivery alongside other team members.

Who you are:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Audio Visual Technician.
  • Experienced in video conferencing hardware and software (codecs and infrastructure).
  • Experience within the technical event production/broadcast environment.
  • Fluent understanding of signal flow, able to perform root cause analysis on the spot, and capable of reading and creating line diagrams.
  • Familiar with live audio (broadcast or front of house) and acoustic principles, understanding sound behavior and optimizing audio.
  • Familiar and interested on video and audio editing software.
  • Capable of actively recommending effective courses of action, communicating resolutions, policies, and procedures to various IT partners, management, and the end-user population.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of assigned work and deliver results timely, reliably, and accurately.
  • Ability to produce reports against service levels and important metrics.
  • Experience working on medium to large projects and delivering within timelines.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Self-managed and a self-starter with a positive attitude, easily able to establish good relationships with other support team members and business partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of delivering at an advanced level.
  • Working knowledge across all IT disciplines including hardware, software, and network.
  • Proven time management and delegation skills.
  • Dynamic, innovative, and capable of garnering the respect and high-level trust required by the help desk and IT teams for success in this position.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with remote teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams, adaptable to change, and with a growth mindset.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $69,000.00 to $96,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $110,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
