General information:
Hitachi Energy has an open position of Research Internship for Power Electronics for it's Raleigh, NC location. You will work under the guidance and supervision of designated researcher and with a team of researchers on power converter modeling, control, and prototyping. Duration of internship: 4 months
Your Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the research project by designing, testing, and validating Power Electronic converter concepts for grid connected applications.
- Perform modeling and analysis to support design decisions for realizing high voltage modular power switch using low-voltage semiconductor devices. Component selection and design of printed circuit boards.
- Dissemination of the research findings through reports and presentations.

Your Background:
- Currently enrolled in MS / PhD in Electrical and Computer engineering in an accredited university program in the US Coursework in power electronics.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Preferred qualification: Solid background in Power Electronic converter operation, design and control.
- Research and/or course project work on hardware and firmware development for Power Electronic converter. Knowledge of high frequency magnetics design for Power Electronic converters.
- Experience in PCB design, population, and testing. Knowledge of Power Electronic converter simulations tools, such as Matlab Simulink and PLECs.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
