About the job

The Building Opportunities for Leadership and Development (BOLD) Internship Program is a paid summer internship for undergraduate college students that are interested in working in non-technical career opportunities at Google.

Google welcomes applications from candidates from all backgrounds regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability status or any other dimension of diversity. Students from all schools, and students who (1) have demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion; (2) have faced and overcome adversity; or (3) identify with a group that is historically underrepresented in the technology industry including, but not limited to Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, Women, students with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.

BOLD interns are placed on teams across the company in fields of work including but not limited to Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Program Management. Their work is core to Google and varies in scope and in length - ranging from the day-to-day core work of a full-time Googler to a single long-term project lasting the duration of the internship.

BOLD interns also participate in targeted training and experiences and have the opportunity to take advantage of the learning and development programs and support systems that Google offers. This includes 1:1 mentorship, a unique speaker series with company leadership, custom learning and development sessions, and opportunities to create community. We recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) are critical components of leadership for all Googlers so we ensure these topics are integrated throughout the summer’s programming.

Role Areas

BOLD interns are placed in teams across the business according to their background and interests. Learn more about our fields of work. Here are just a few teams that interns have joined in the past:

Sales: Turn product innovations into vital client solutions. The backbone of Google’s success, the account managers, consultants and analysts in these roles are all dedicated to top-notch client service. Whether negotiating with Fortune 500 companies, solving technical challenges for small businesses, or surfacing product ads in just the right place, we develop new business opportunities while increasing the use of our product offerings.

Marketing: A creative group ranging from event planners and designers to statisticians and analysts, our Marketing teams live and breathe the motto "users first." Some of us ensure that Google’s voice is as clean and simple as our iconic homepage. Others pitch journalists, develop brand materials, tell compelling stories, and address complex business issues. Together, we define how people interact with technology and shape the perception of Google around the globe.

Program Management: Overseeing day-to-day progress on large-scale projects, owning planning, execution, and communications, Program Managers play a critical role across various product areas and functions across Google, from Supply Chain to Devices & Services, and beyond.

Finance: Fuel our moonshots by devising innovative solutions to complex problems in forecasting, accounting, compliance, and project management. From advising our product teams to managing day-to-day balance sheets, you’ll help keep our business on track to meet (or, better yet, exceed) our goals.

Google aspires to be an organization that reflects the globally diverse audience that our search engine and tools serve. We believe that in addition to hiring the best talent, a diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures leads to the creation of better products and services. This diversity of our employees and partners serves as the foundation for us to better serve our diverse customers and stakeholders all over the world.

Google is also invested in increasing the pipeline of future computer scientists and software developers, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in the field. Many aspiring computer scientists could benefit from a program that bridges the gap between academic study and a professional internship. Google wants to inspire these students to continue in the field with such a program.
