Job Summary:

The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking an Associate Director to serve as the SPY-6 Above Deck Equipment TRIMM Hardware Lead.  The SPY-6 Raytheon franchise program is in full rate production and delivers next generation S-Band radars to defeat advanced threats.  The hardware lead will be responsible for the continued high volume transmit/receive module production line and be agile to address any mechanical, electrical or supplier concerns with the product line.

This position is onsite in Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Experience in leading a cross functional team including members from Engineering, Operations, Integrated Supply Chain, and Quality through production, issue resolution, and cost reduction initiatives

Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing EVMS and Risk & Opportunity Management

Experience in program planning, budgeting, and tracking to cost and schedule

The role requires close management of Engineering production support while simultaneously balancing resulting performance with the ability to meet the customers critical schedule requirements

Regular review of program status including tracking and review by both Engineering Leadership and Program Leadership

Extensive knowledge of hardware engineering capabilities to ensure successful technical execution.  Ability to partner with the chief engineer, technical leads, Operations leads, and Mission Assurance is required

Extensive knowledge of transition to production and the ability to lead a design release into ongoing production is desired

Provides technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements

Ensures balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership

Visible and accountable for technical decisions

The position requires frequent interaction with all levels of Raytheon Management, internal and external customers

The position requires frequent interaction with USG customer’s technical and quality leadership, as well as regular customer briefings at management reviews and Technical Interchange meetings

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline

12 years of relevant professional experience

Experience leading and participating in design and development activities

Experience in leadership positions

Experience preparing both technical and cost proposals

Knowledge of earned value management and other program management skills

Experience presenting challenging technical issues to senior leadership

Willing to travel domestically in support of Mechanical and Program activities, with frequent travel between the Marlborough, Tewksbury and Andover facilities

An active and in-scope DoD US security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

10+ years participating in leadership positions

Advanced degree in Engineering discipline

Raytheon Technologies process improvement ie CORE/ Six Sigma Certification

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written

Collaborate in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative

Experience in driving Cost Reduction Initiatives and partnering with Suppliers in reducing costs and or driving quick closure to issues

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
