Collins Aerospace is looking for a talented Factory Manager to work with the Collins Aerospace Mission Systems team in our Largo, FL location. In this role you will guide and lead a production organization of approximately 7 direct reports and an organization of between 40-60 employees engaged in the assembly and test of electronic and/or mechanical products. You will take on full direction and ownership accountability for the safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance of a multi-cell/multi-shift operation. It is imperative you have a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the production organization concerned with the assembly and processing operations including a thorough understanding of manufacturing related policies and procedures, and quality and customer requirements.

This key role requires daily interaction with other functions to maintain and meet organizational goals and targets. These groups include: technical support, manufacturing/test/design engineering, facilities, production control, finance and multiple internal customers. Achieving/exceeding safety, quality, delivery, cost goals and identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities using six sigma and lean methodologies are critical performance criteria for this position.

What You Will Do:

  • Must use metrics to develop implementation of the MRP plan while achieving cost and quality requirements
  • Working with other manufacturing facilities and industry to benchmark manufacturing best practices and implement them in the value stream
  • Implement Raytheon Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Must be able to perform strategic planning, develop relationships and achieve buy-in from all relevant parties for the plan and vision for the value stream
  • Leader in the creation of the current and future state value stream maps and the implementation plan for getting from present to future
  • Will control cost through effective utilization of labor, proper maintenance of equipment, enforcement of safety rules, good housekeeping and reduction of scrap, waste and spoilage
  • Must be able to create and maintain working relationships with the functional stakeholders supplying the employees for the value stream
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with other departments. Will recommend changes in product design, tooling and manufacturing methods to improve production
  • Provide key input for performance development and salary planning. This includes the functional employees assigned to the value stream
  • Must ensure all employees are treated fairly and consistently. This will require a thorough understanding of Company policies and procedures, rules of conduct, the current collective bargaining agreement and the proper use of discretion in the application of these.
  • Will implement corrective actions where necessary and may include disciplinary matters up to and including terminations
  • Develop, mentor, and training all subordinate employees and/or junior level Manufacturing supervisors
  • Assures thorough contacts with outside departments, that proper inventory balances are maintained, that quality is within acceptable standards and that production goals are met
  • Responsible for understanding and utilizing business system resources

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required ; U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinker with experience using metrics, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma to drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence, guide, and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Flexible problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to manage complex issues while fostering inclusivity and professional development.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • BS/BA in Operations/Manufacturing, Business, Engineering or any related major
  • Manufacturing or industrial engineering and supervisory experience in the aerospace/defense industry
  • Demonstrated cost, schedule and technical administration experience
  • Core proficiency in the area of assembly, inspection, and test operations
  • High level of computer literacy / enthusiasm and skill working with Microsoft Office Resources (Excel, PowerPoint,      Project) and familiarity with Raytheon systems (VM, SAP, PDM)

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
