The Antenna & Microwave Department is searching for an experienced engineer to serve as the AN/TPY 2 SAM Sub Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL).  The Sub IPTL would work with team members from Engineering, Operations, and Global Supply Chain.  The AN/TPY-2 Radar is the world’s most advanced mobile radar system.  The radar is a multi-functional X-band Radar which may be deployed globally in either terminal or forward-based mode.  Numerous AN/TPY-2 radar systems are currently deployed around the world and are an integral part of the U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).  The role requires that the Sub IPTL balance cost and schedule, while delivering compliant product, which is compliant with the contract.  This involves developing solutions which are the best fit for the overall program performance.  This IPTL role will be based in Woburn or Andover, MA and is a hybrid role.

The candidate would join the Antenna & Microwave Department.  The department is focused on leading electrical design, development, and hardware integration and testing of some of the most innovative land-based, mobile, and shipboard radars in the world.

Team leadership skills including cost and schedule management plus proposal writing and presentation experience are desired. 

The ability to travel in support of the IPT and Program activities domestically is required.

What You Will Do

  • Execute production in accordance with contract requirements, to include all AN/TPY-2 MEI (Major End Item) activities, for both internal and external (Subcontractors) Production.
  • Allocate budget, scope, and construct a meaningful and executable IMS with product leads and peers.
  • Drive adherence to program plans and schedules, accurately measure and report on progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken, and ensure the delivery of contractual commitments.
  • The role requires close management of design completion while simultaneously balancing resulting performance with the ability to meet the customers critical schedule requirements.
  • Regular review of program status including tracking and review by both Engineering and Program Leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge of hardware engineering capabilities to ensure successful technical execution.
  • The position requires partnering with the chief engineer and technical leads to provide the most cost-effective technical solutions.
  • The position requires frequent interaction with all levels of Raytheon Management.
  • The position requires frequent interaction with the customer community stakeholders, the PMO, and technical leaders. The SAM Sub IPTL will need to report program issues and status to the AEU IPTL, KSA THAAD Program Director, Domestic Program Manager and AN/TPY-2 Production Director.
  • This position will require attendance at regular customer briefings in a number of internal and external forums.
  • The position requires transition to production skills.
  • Provide leadership direction, flow down, and feedback to the Sub-Product Leads
  • Drive Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRIs).
  • Responsible for proposal efforts, negotiations, and Gate 3/4 Reviews for new MEI scope.
  • Coordinate with Functional Engineering leadership to request resource support needs.
  • Some travel to integration sites, plus customer and subcontractor facilities, may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience combined in the following areas:
    • Microwave/RF system, subsystem and component analysis, design and test
    • Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition and analytical tools such as Matlab
    • Experience leading cross functional teams including members from Engineering, Operations, Global Supply Chain, and Quality through hardware development, production, and test including system test.
    • Experience with transitioning products to production and the ability to lead a design release into production.
    • Experience in leadership positions.
    • Experience managing diverse and complex tasks across competing priorities.
    • Experience leading and participating in design and development activities.
    • Experience working and leading both technical and cost proposals.
    • Experience implementing Risk and Opportunity Management.
    • Experience presenting challenging program and technical issues to senior leadership internally and externally.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

   
Qualifications We Value

  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience managing and/or leading cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Experience leading and growing / developing teams.
  • Experience working with customers to develop/negotiate SOW requirements and scope.
  • Proven ability to interface with customers and lead programmatic and technical discussions to closure.
  • Experience leading and participating in production and test activities.
  • EV Certified or able to achieve EV certification within first year.
  • PMX Level 6 Certified and able to achieve PMX Level 4 Certification within two years.
  • IPDS knowledge and experience.
  • Raytheon Technologies process improvement ie CORE/ Six Sigma Certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written.
  • Collaborate in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative.
  • Experience in agile hardware development and managing using SCRUM.
  • TPY program knowledge and history, knowledge of any of the MEIs is a plus.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
