The Role:

Work closely in a small team to source, organise and analyse macroeconomic and financial data, build simple statistical models, contribute to company publications and write topical analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure datasets on specific topics. This could involve either finding data from public sources and creating datasets for internal use, or querying existing internal databases to produce data sets for specific research projects.
  • Undertake analysis of custom datasets and produce short written commentaries on specific topics. Thorough analysis of the data is required, with a view to producing high quality ‘financial journalism’ that sheds light on a specific economic question.
  • Potential for building simple economic models to contribute to larger econometric projects. Depending on interest, responsibilities could include contributing to larger econometric projects by building simple models, testing data properties and finding solutions to estimation problems. Also potential for programming in statistical software such as Eviews, R or Python.

Requirements:

  • Either final year of a Bachelor’s degree or in the first year of a Master’s degree in Economics or related field.
  • High standard of written English, and an interest in communicating the results of data analysis to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong data analysis skills and with some experience of working with statistical programs.
  • Must be a motivated, responsible person who can work well with others independently of daily supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • You must be in Prague from the 16th June to the 22nd August.

The EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Economics Research Team provides forecasts, scenarios and thematic research for the region. Country analysts are responsible for producing forecasts and alternative scenarios on a monthly basis. They cover topical economic issues, comment on data releases, frequently present to clients and develop their own thematic research.
