UnspecifiedCollins Aerospace is looking for an Associate Director of Engineering who will provide engineering functional leadership for a team of 70+ engineers in Design, Stress, Equipment, Tooling and Program Engineering disciplines. You will ensure Functional Excellence within the Mexicali Design Center. You will also play a critical role of integrating the Mexicali Design Center with the Engineering Functional Excellence team at Aerostructures (U.S.) and with the Mexicali site. You will achieve this by ensuring employee engagement, developing and growing a collaborative culture and ensuring integration with the functional Engineering team. In addition, you will engage in day-to-day leadership of engineering execution to support the business, provide sufficient capacity and skills to maximize productivity and develop talent for future growth.
Position will be working onsite at our Mexicali, MX facility.
Manage staffing, retention and attrition to support the needs of Engineering
Career growth and support through the regular performance reviews
Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering team
Provide training and growth in engineering function
Drive early career talent locally from through University and school engagement
Pulse score and leadership effectiveness survey actions
Collaborate with the site to provide local engagement and development of skills and experience with manufacturing
Collaborate with functional leaders to provide engineering engagement at the Mexicali site level
Provide path of escalation should issues arise
Lead strategic vision for the Mexicali Design Center
Represent and advocate for the Design Center team on local site leadership meetings
Oversee and support budgets and financial planning, including indirect and CFE spending, to ensure alignment with program and business objectives
Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
Travel up to 10% internationally when circumstances permit
Perform other duties as required
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum of 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and typically a minimum of 10 years of experience
Experience managing a team of professional engineers both domestically and internationally
Experience with Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies
Project Management experience
Proficient Conversational and written English required, needs to be able to efficiently communicate with corporate leaders both in person and in reports/via email
Must be authorized to work in Mexico without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position outside Mexico Region.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
Experience with mechanical design and/or stress analysis
Experience with SAP
Experience in the Aerospace Industry
Experience with Nacelle or aircraft components
