Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Engineer EHS. This position is located in Huntsville, AL, in support of the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division.
What You’ll get to do:

Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, safety & sustainability (EHS&S) regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.

Assists with implementation of programs to comply with EHS&S regulations.

Partners with business leaders to continuously improve the culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS&S programs.

Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS&S programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation. Completes audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assists in pollution prevention activities.

Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, the site EHS&S Committee.

Assists with the implementation of EHS&S management systems at the site level.

Additional roles and responsibilities may include: Serves as liaison with regulatory agencies.

Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies.

Writes and updates EHS&S plans and procedures.

Applies for new permits and renewals.

Conducts compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.

Coordinates EHS&S training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS&S training.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Principal Engineer: 5 Years with applicable experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD; 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of degree.

Sr Principal Engineer: 8 Years with applicable experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD; 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of degree.

Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

EHS experience in manufacturing.
-
Ammunition/Explosives safety.
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-
Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.

Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs.
-
Experience with Hazardous waste shipments.
-
Experience conducting engineer design reviews for manufacturing and production tooling.

Salary Range: $93,000 - $139,600
Salary Range 2: $115,400 - $173,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
