An exciting opportunity exists for an entry-level mechanical engineer to join our engineering team at the Advanced Microelectronics Solutions Department (AMSD) at Raytheon in Andover, MA. AMSD develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications.
In this role, you will work closely with a team of multi-disciplined engineers to design, layout, and document microelectronics assemblies. You will interact with internal customers and suppliers to advise on design tradeoffs and meet their needs. Your technical background, efficiency and effectiveness of communication, keen interest in learning new skills (especially in an interdisciplinary RF field), your coachability, and attention to detail are the keys to your success. You will have a sense of ownership and collaborate closely with everybody who has a part to play in an assigned task.
What You Will Do
Own the mechanical design and certain electrical design portion of projects
Interact with a cross-functional team on daily basis
Work with SME to provide end to end support from concept and design to procurement and testing
Collaborate and communicate on project progress and design details
What You Will Learn
Advanced structural design in the RF microelectronics field using Creo and AutoCad.
Design trade-offs between key metrics covering performance, cost, schedule and manufacturability.
Tolerance studies, material selection and procurement
PWB board design.
RF module testing in engineering labs.
Data transactions in PDM environment (Product Data Management).
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.
Experience with engineering design tools: AutoCAD, Creo, Solidworks, or Autodesk Inventor.
Mechanical design experience including creation of detailed component drawings.
This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Strong problem-solving experience
Knowledge in RF field
Knowledge in Printed Circuit Board manufacturing
1 or 2 years of directly related experience
Familiarity with proto-type assembly
Experience with Product Data Management (PDM)
Ability to work in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
Excellent verbal and written presenting skills
A sense of ownership and team spirit
