You will be leading a team of mechanical engineers in delivering high-quality and cost-effective advanced power quality (FACTS) solutions to our customers. In the team you will find the mechanical engineers working with the electro-mechanical or primary/physical design for our Power Quality Solutions projects, supporting both tenders and projects. In this position you will work in a global environment with many interfaces within the organization.
Your Responsibilities:
Manage, motivate, and coach your team members.
Support team’s performance to ensure the deliverables are met on time, as per the set contract, safety, and quality requirements.
Together with your colleagues, drive improvements and change, both within control engineering and cross functional to meet strategy and future business needs.
Closely collaborate with your colleagues within Power Quality to support the project teams.
Drive the Scale-to-Potential and Regional Center of Competence build-up programs.

- Specific Project and Tendering Activities Involved:
Ensure design documents are complete and accurate.
- Major Responsibilities in the Tendering stage:
Review engineering estimates for proposals with emphasis on safety, quality and cost.
Oversee the development of scoping documents, if applicable, together with the responsible Mechanical Engineer.
Ensure Hitachi Energy proposal packages conform with Customer requirements.
Help identify and clarify engineering ambiguities and conflicts in the specification documents.
Help identify potential or probable risks during construction and installation.
Help develop mitigation strategies for identified risks.
Provide cost recommendations to the project team based on the bid review analysis
- Major Responsibilities in the Project Execution stage:
Manage the Mechanical Engineers dedicated to specific project efforts to meet the resource requirement for all projects per the master workforce plan.
Resolve engineering and design issues as identified by the Mechanical Engineer on each project, with emphasis on safety, on-time delivery, quality, and sound commercial guidelines.
Work with the respective PMs and Project Lead Engineers to establish project specific guidelines, reporting and document formats for review and approval.
Manage and coordinate the Mechanical Engineering support for all projects, including, but not limited to, the following:
Project design criteria
Review of station general arrangement and layout
Material and equipment specifications
Equipment documentation reviews
Development of sub-contractor Scope of Work (SoW) documents
Works with the respective Project Engineers in reviewing the engineering generated documentation to ensure that it is in general compliance with the applicable project guidelines, customer specifications, governing national standards, and sound engineering judgment before it is subjected to the Customer approval process
Analyze sub-contractor bid responses for inconsistencies, oversights, and mistakes
Notifies the project team of any difficulties encountered in the design that may adversely impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the project deliverables, and provide recommendations for solutions
Travel to project sites as required

Your Background:
Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, e.g. electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
Experience in leadership roles, e.g., line management, project management or similar.
Background working with substations industry.
- Specific Knowledge & Skillsets:
Knowledge on FACTS applications
Knowledge on AutoCAD and REVIT
Knowledge on power electronic devices will be an added advantage.
