In Hitachi Energy we are continuously improving the processes and tools we use in our >2 BUSD global software product and solution business. As a next step, we are creating a new global Software Engineering Improvement function to drive globally harmonized state-of-the-art SW engineering practices.
We are now hiring a
Global Head of Software Engineering Governance
to lead this initiative. The position holder will report directly to the CTO of Hitachi Energy.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure highly efficient and high-quality software development across all global software product developing operations.
- Standardize practices across the company.
Your tasks
- Define and evolve mandatory and recommended software engineering practices, processes and tools as well as related quality and productivity metrics, governance and training elements.
- Define, execute and monitor global implementation plans for these practices in collaboration with the software engineering organizations of the business units.
- Collaborate with SW engineering managers and experts in the business units to take their specific constraints into account.
- Evangelize state-of-the-art software engineering practices among the Hitachi Energy software engineering community and related functions.
- Act as software engineering practices advisor to software engineers and management.
Your background
- Track record in deploying high-maturity software engineering practices in global organizations with proven results.
- Multiple years of both programming and software engineering management experience in different environments, preferably including embedded and enterprise level software development.
- Academic background in software engineering or related fields, deep familiarity with software engineering practices and tools as well as recent software engineering research and commercial tooling.
- Deep understanding of modern software technologies and architectures with a view towards required software engineering practices and tools.
- Well-established connections into the global software engineering community.
- Experience and track record in project and program management.
- Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills.
- Experience in people leadership.
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
- Global experience.
The position holder may be located in any country with Hitachi Energy presence. Regular interaction with our SW development teams located in Europe, North America and India is required. Preferred location is Krakow, Poland. Some travel will be required.
