Our ImpactWe are the Single-Family Underwriting IT team, and we simplify technical concepts for business discussions.
We collaborate on projects for critical Freddie Mac core applications with teams comprised of business, analysis, testing, and infrastructure partners, all working together to improve the capabilities of these systems.
Your ImpactAgile enthusiast specializing in Java/JEE application development, Microservices architecture, and modernizing legacy systems. Skilled in requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment. Experienced in encouraging Microservices practices, building automation pipelines, and training teams. Strong in production support and effective communication within matrix-based organizations.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred.
5 - 7 years of proven ability producing high quality engineering work.
5+ years crafting and developing applications and web services using Java
2+ years of hands-on experience in Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
Experience in creating backend frameworks is huge plus.
Background with No-SQL databases like DB2 or Mongo.
Strong experience in using Angular.
1+ year of hands-on test automation experience.
Experience with Cucumber and/or Cypress.
Collaborative ability to review and comment on teammates designs.
2 or more years of experience working in Agile, Lean/Kanban, or Scaled Agile organization.
Mortgage and/or financial services industry experience is preferred.
Prior Freddie Mac experience is helpful.
Works under minimal direction
Ability to provide technical guidance to the team
Strong written and oral communications skills
Proactive in nature with customer satisfaction as primary goal
Innovative in providing solutions, and tackles challenges with calculated risk.
Quick learner of new technologies and tools
A developer with an approach to think holistically to build a reliable, flexible, and well performing system
Offer Level 3 support for core applications, addressing production defects with swift analysis and resolution
Partnership – Align with several IT partners, including the Architecture, Infrastructure, and Support teams in delivering easily maintainable solutions

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $127,000 - $191,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
