About the Team:
The Business Analyst is a key role in a dynamic team of product managers, software engineers, quality assurance managers, and business experts. The Clinical Data Studio Business Analyst supports a suite of clinical research leading technology to power a wide range of operational users responsible for ensuring data quality and patient safety. The Business Analyst works closely with multidisciplinary teams to continue to enhance the capabilities of the Clinical Data Studio, the next generation of Medidata experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a broad range of users to identify and document in a business requirements document (BRD the business processes and requirements; create user stories and test scripts to support the development and integration of business systems.
- Engage with IT partners to ensure business needs are correctly translated to support processes and systems changes with high quality results.
- Manage the activities of other analysts and project resources by delegating assignments, following up on progress and reporting status.
- Understand Quality Assurance processes and be able to define and execute test plans to ensure solution/design meet business requirements. Work with Internal Audit teams to validate and test controls in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and/or IFRS standards, and GCP standards
- Ability to influence management to adopt enhancements in business processes or technology to increase optimal business performance.
- Experience working in complex systems architecture that integrates with multiple systems, understanding both the technical and functional aspects and ensuring that systems are integrated efficiently and safely.
- Keep up with best practices and other related industries that could be incorporated into our technological roadmap.
- Understand networks, databases, object models and workflows in order to make key business decisions.
- Be able to accurately forecast and plan work using Agile methodology; monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of software releases; this includes but is not limited to managing scope and dependencies.
- Effectively train end-users and maintain up-to-date documentation on system procedures.
Preferred Competencies:
- Life Science experience is preferred. Clinical Trials and Rave experience and knowledge is a plus
- Thorough understanding of the software development life-cycle methodologies (Agile methodology is plus)
- Ability to proactively engage and build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
- Flexibility and attitude to achieve tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities including the ability to multi-task
- Experience with data migration and data transformation
- Experience working with Engineers with defining API requirements and testing API results
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills able to present complex ideas in a clear, focused and concise manner to all stakeholders and team members,both technical and non-technical.

We are looking for a candidate who wants to understand how the solutions you will be helping to design fit into the big picture and is energized by working with professionals that share the same mindset. . The Lead Business Analyst will be reporting to our Senior Manager, Product Management. Experience in designing, developing or implementing SaaS solutions is a plus as is familiarity with programming languages, data visualization, and clinical research.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a life science, or quantitative or business discipline (business administration, computer science, engineering or a related field) and a minimum of 5 years of business analysis related experience.
- Experience as consultant, business analyst or product manager working on cloud based technologies
- Familiarity with standard business analyst core competencies such as developing business cases, user stories, and workflow diagrams.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information and processes to relevant stakeholders, and to describe business problems and use cases to technical audiences
- Familiarity with database structures and components of web based applications
- Familiarity with Agile software development principles and experience working in an Agile software development environment (e.g.prioritizing the backlog and creating stories).
- Desirable:
- Agile/Scrum, QA methodologies
- Jira, AHA
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $114,750-153,000
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $121,500-162,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $113,250-151,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $101,250-135,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $102,750-137,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
