Role Overview: As a Digital Content Producer, you'll be at the heart of what makes MySA.com a go-to destination for fresh, engaging content. You'll be the key player who drives how stories are told, seen, and shared!
Your day will be filled with exciting challenges: you’ll make critical decisions on which stories to highlight, craft compelling headlines, and optimize content for search, ensuring our readers are always hooked. Plus, you’ll get to work with a talented, forward-thinking editorial team, where your ideas can flourish.
What will you do?
- Create & Curate: Package, post, and promote stories across MySA.com, social media, and newsletters. Use your design skills to enhance articles with visuals and links that draw readers in.
- Real-Time Strategy: Monitor traffic and analytics to guide content decisions, ensuring the right stories are in the spotlight. You’ll take action fast, adjusting headlines, homepage layouts, and social posts to drive maximum engagement.
- Engage Audiences: Send breaking news alerts and craft tailored newsletters that keep readers informed and excited. You'll also help craft original stories and SEO-friendly articles to boost discoverability. You will own video posting and scheduling to ensure our video content reaches audiences at just the right moment, coordinating timely releases that maximize impact and keep viewers coming back for more.
- Social Savvy: Collaborate with the production team to post content on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit. Explore emerging platforms (LinkedIn, Threads, and beyond!) and help us stay ahead of digital trends.
- Be a Trend-Spotter: Help reporters find story opportunities by analyzing trending topics, social listening, and search insights. You’ll be the go-to expert on what’s capturing attention in the digital world.
What will it take to be successful?
- Strong news judgment and understanding of local content
- Proficiency in tools like Canva, CMS systems, Chartbeat, Google Analytics, and social scheduling platforms (e.g., Later, Social Flow)
- The ability to make quick, smart decisions under pressure
- A passion for crafting engaging, accurate, and error-free digital content
- Familiarity with AP Style, SEO practices, and digital content metrics
- Creativity, organization, and a deadline-driven work ethic
- Meeting daily and weekly KPI goals, including driving traffic and engagement
- Seamless operation of our digital platforms with zero errors and maximum reader satisfaction
- Strong collaboration and communication with both the digital and newsroom teams
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of newsroom experience
- Solid understanding of audience engagement and digital content metrics
- A love for storytelling and staying ahead of digital trends!
