Why this role is exciting:
This role is pivotal in driving internal company value by shaping the strategic vision, design, development, and adoption of our internal applications ecosystem. As the Product Manager for Internal Tooling, your focus will be on enabling the business internally by enhancing efficiencies, productivity, integrations, automations, and usability. You will ensure that the internal user experience is seamless, intuitive, and highly effective for impact.com employees, who are your primary clients.
In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the unique needs of various internal teams and translating these needs into actionable product strategies. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and success representatives to ensure that our internal tools not only meet but exceed the expectations of our staff, driving productivity and satisfaction across the organization.
Moreover, you will be the primary driver of our internal product-led growth strategy, and determine the best course forward to retain our large enterprise brands while transforming our demand-side product offering into something simple, requiring no internal employee involvement, and with a short time to value.

What you'll do:
Data and Insights:
- Collaborate with internal analytics and UX research teams to assess the effectiveness of internal tools and applications.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and foster empathy throughout the product life cycle.
- Utilize product analytics tools such as Pendo and Google Analytics to perform user segment analysis, focusing on internal user behavior and productivity.
- Analyze reports to identify insights and patterns, drawing actionable recommendations for improving internal efficiencies and productivity.
- Actively solicit feedback, insights, and input from internal teams to continuously enhance the internal user experience.
- Proficiently write MySQL queries to extract and analyze data for deeper insights and decision-making.
Strategic Thinking:
- Set the vision and strategy for the internal applications ecosystem, driving efficiency, productivity, integrations, automations, and usability across the organization.
- Lead large-scale cross-functional initiatives focused on enhancing internal tooling and report progress to leadership.
- Structure and guide strategic conversations involving multiple stakeholders at all levels to align on internal tool enhancements and priorities.
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions to generate new initiatives aimed at improving the internal user experience and operational efficiency.
- Conduct research to identify new opportunities for internal disruption and innovation within the company’s toolset.
Communication:
- Clearly communicate objectives, progress, and outcomes across functions to ensure alignment and understanding of internal tool initiatives.
- Collaborate with external third parties as necessary to support the development and integration of internal tools.
- Proactively address potential challenges with other functions, resolving conflicts and ensuring smooth project execution.
- Manage stakeholder expectations effectively, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaboration and Project Management:
- Effectively negotiate and maintain positive relationships across teams to drive the successful implementation of internal tool projects.
- Lead and actively participate in group meetings to align on project goals and timelines.
- Remove roadblocks and ensure that internal tooling projects meet their objectives and deadlines.
- Coordinate the development process from a product perspective, ensuring alignment with internal user needs and company goals.
- Oversee project management, ensuring seamless collaboration between different teams such as BizApps, DA, DE, OPS Eng, Finance, Core, and the customer.
Applications Ecosystem:
- Oversee the development and evolution of the internal applications ecosystem, ensuring it supports the diverse needs of various internal teams.
- Drive the adoption of new internal tools and platforms that enhance the company’s operational capabilities.
- Ensure the internal applications ecosystem is scalable, adaptable, and capable of supporting future business needs.
Efficiencies & Productivity (Enabling Employees):
- Identify opportunities to improve internal efficiencies through process optimization and the introduction of new tools.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase employee productivity by simplifying workflows and reducing manual tasks.
- Ensure that internal tools and processes enable employees to work more effectively and with greater ease.
- Prioritize and vet incoming tickets, ensuring detailed specifications are complete before initiating work.
Integrations and Automations:
- Lead initiatives to integrate internal tools with existing systems to create a seamless and connected work environment.
- Drive the automation of repetitive tasks to free up employee time for more strategic work.
- Ensure that integrations and automations are robust, reliable, and contribute to overall business efficiency.
Usability and Internal User Experience:
- Focus on enhancing the usability of internal tools, ensuring they are intuitive, user-friendly, and meet the needs of internal teams.
- Gather and analyze user feedback to continuously improve the internal user experience.
- Ensure that internal tools are designed with a user-centric approach, prioritizing ease of use and accessibility.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices related to internal tools and user experience, attending relevant conferences and reviewing industry publications.
- Contribute to the achievement of company key results by aligning internal tool initiatives with broader company objectives.
- Provide detailed analysis and recommendations for internal tool initiatives, ensuring clarity in the long-term strategy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company’s internal tools and platforms, becoming a subject matter expert in these areas.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of the internal applications roadmap, ensuring it aligns with company and departmental objectives.
- Create detailed specifications for new features and epics, driving cross-functional buy-in and collaboration with other teams to advance the roadmap.
- Train and inform internal teams on new features and functionalities, ensuring smooth adoption and effective usage.
- Evaluate and manage partnership opportunities with external third parties to enhance internal tools.
- Set, track, and achieve quarterly goals (OKRs) that support the company’s internal productivity and efficiency objectives.
- Lead sprint and OBE planning, ensuring that projects are on track and aligned with company goals.
- Act as a Systems Analyst by creating and managing process documents and diagrams, particularly for processes involving different systems such as SFDC.
