Data Scientist III, Product Analytics
Introduction to the team
Our Expedia Product & Technology division builds innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A unified, singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences for the traveler and our partners that drive loyalty and customer satisfaction.
Checkout product analytics is apart of the global product analytics team in Expedia. We as a team support key business decisions throughout the product development lifecycle that improves the user experience for millions of Expedia customers on all brand’s Checkout and confirmation pages. This involves uncovering customer friction points, hypothesis generation and prioritisation, experimentation design, valid and impartial test analysis and recommendations.
In this role, you will:
Be a go-to expert on Checkout user behaviour data
Influence Checkout product decisions and roadmap by crafting insightful data-driven stories
Set measurement framework and targets to support Checkout strategy
Provide requirements for Checkout data capture that helps us understand and optimize our Product
Lead Checkout end to end a/b testing: from discovery analysis, to test design, test evaluation and recommendations for future iterations
Proactively engage with Checkout product managers to define upcoming project needs and maintain regular communication on progress
Get alignment across the org by sharing key Checkout analytics updates and involving the broader Analytics, Product, and Business teams for decision-making when appropriate
Keep up-to-date on developments in the industry to help drive Expedia Group’s innovation
Experience and qualifications:
Excellent logical thinking, a very strong background (Bachelor’s/Master’s degree) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, engineering, operations research, data science or similar and 4 years of experience in industry or equivalent.
Ability to communicate technical concepts concisely and clearly to senior level executives
Demonstrated ability to work through complex business problems and implement suitable solutions.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable with ambiguity
Experience creating and analysing drivers of performance metrics.
Experience with large data sets and proficient in SQL or other programming languages (R, Python)
Expertise in Web Analytics, such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics Premium
Advance knowledge of experimentation techniques like AB Tests, Causal Inference, multivariate testing
Ability to interpret machine learning models such as propensity modelling and forecasting techniques
