We have an opportunity for a Principal RF Design Electrical Engineer to make an impact supporting the CNS (Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance) group. Collins Aerospace designs, integrates, and certifies commercial avionics products for the Air Transport and Business and Regional aircraft markets. 

 

In this role, you will contribute to the team developing the next generation of avionics products.  You will work with a small group of collaborative hardware Electrical Design Engineers.  To be successful, you will need to bring demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in electrical development.  This position will encompass both new product development and legacy product sustaining support activities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

  • Develop and analyze electrical design requirements. 

  • Design and prototype circuits. 

  • Analyze circuit performance using circuit simulation tools like Spice, ADS etc. 

  • Design, debug, and test digital, analog and RF circuits. 

  • Develop schematics, oversee PCB layouts, and support design drawings development. 

  • Own the build, debug, and test of digital and mixed signal circuits. 

  • Conduct circuit tests using lab test equipment (O ’scope, Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Logic Analyzer etc.) 

  • Develop verification test plans, procedures, and test reports to ensure the developed product meets the specified requirements. 

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Manufacturing & Test Engineering and Safety & Reliability Engineering to ensure robust designs and appropriate testability. 

  • Support product certification activities (FAA TSO and Customers specific). 

  • Travel less than 10%

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE: 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience. 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position. 

  • 5+ years' experience with RF circuits and sub-system level design (Receiver and Transmitter architectures) 

  • 5+years’ experience in circuit level development engineering or holding a master's degree with RF/Microwave focus. 

  • 5+ years’ experience in design, debug, and test of analog, digital and RF design. 

  • 5+ years’ experience with common circuit simulation platforms such as Spice, ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS etc. 

  • 5+Experience with software defined radio design. 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position. 

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:  

  • Experience with major types of lab test equipment (Power supplies, O ’scopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, etc.). 

  • Experience with DO-160 environmental/EMI qualification, and TSO approval processes. 

  • Experience with RTCA DO-254 standards for Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware. 

  • Familiarity with avionics design and certifications standards for commercial air transport applications. 

  • Familiarity with Radio Altimeters and other NAV products design. 

  • Experience working with embedded processors and FPGA’s. 

  • Experience with Jira/JAMA/SVN/DOORS. 

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics DX Designer Schematic capture and layout tools. 

  • Experience in data-driven quantitative analysis, including statistical tools, data modeling, and trend analysis, to inform decision-making.  

  • Ability to identify patterns, predict outcomes, and select optimal solutions based on empirical evidence and logical reasoning.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
