Your Role: Electrical Senior Project Engineer, First Class Seating:
We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Electrical Senior Project Engineer to lead the development of innovative solutions for complex technical challenges in our First-Class Seating division. This role isn’t just about engineering; it’s about vision, leadership, and innovation. You will work at the intersection of advanced technical principles and multidisciplinary collaboration, guiding teams to push boundaries and deliver excellence.

What you will do:

  • Lead and execute complex, multi-disciplinary projects, developing detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for customers, effectively communicating project updates, technical insights, and strategic recommendations.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning, growth, and collaboration.
  • Conduct critical path analysis, develop work-around plans, and identify opportunities for cost optimization to achieve project goals.
  • Drive product research, design, development, integration, and testing to meet program requirements and exceed customer expectations.
  • Coordinate and lead design reviews with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment throughout each project phase.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Represent Collins Aerospace as a key technical expert in customer meetings and industry forums, influencing the future of aircraft seating technologies.

 What you will learn:

Advanced Technical Expertise

  • Electrical Systems Design: Master the design and integration of electrical systems for aircraft interiors, focusing on harnesses, seat actuation, and in-flight entertainment.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Engineering: Apply advanced technical principles in a collaborative environment with mechanical, structural, and systems engineers.

Project and Program Management

  • Project Leadership: Develop skills in managing large projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Risk Management: Gain expertise in identifying project risks, performing critical path analysis, and implementing mitigation strategies.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Team Leadership: Enhance collaboration with cross-functional teams in engineering, supply chain, quality, and customer service.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate technical concepts and updates to customers, stakeholders, and senior management.

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge

  • Aerospace Standards: Acquire knowledge of FAA and EASA regulations and OEM electrical processes to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.

Innovation and Design Thinking

  • Product Innovation: Participate in design reviews and brainstorming to develop innovative solutions for aircraft seating.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on new materials, manufacturing processes, and digital tools like Siemens PLM, Teamcenter, and NX.

Mentorship and Leadership Development

  • Mentoring: Develop leadership skills by guiding junior engineers and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Influence: Advocate for best practices, influence engineering strategy, and represent the company in industry forums.

Business and Financial Acumen

  • Financial Management: Understand project financials, including cost estimation, budgeting, and financial negotiations.
  • Proposal Development: Learn to create compelling proposals with technical work statements, specifications, and budgets.

  • Networking: Build connections with industry stakeholders, including airlines, OEMs, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree and 3 years of experience in a related field or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Proficiency in Siemens PLM tools (Teamcenter and NX)
  • Strong knowledge of interior electrical harness design and routing, aircraft electrical interfaces, and seat actuation systems.
  • Familiarity with In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) supplier Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and system integration.
  • Understanding of FAA and EASA requirements and aircraft OEM electrical processes

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Regardless of your role type, collaboration and innovation are critical to our business and all employees will have access to digital tools so they can work with colleagues around the world – and access to Collins sites when their work requires in-person meetings.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
