UnspecifiedRaytheon Waterloo is seeking a Principal Specialist, Product Design to be part of the team supporting legacy and Next Generation Airport Traffic Control (ATC) programs. The candidate will work with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team consisting of product design, systems, software, and manufacturing engineers to develop engineering solutions from conceptualization through prototype development, testing, documentation, and production of mechanical designs and electronic configuration deliverables. Future growth will lead to working with mechanical, civil and electrical engineers to support greenfield installations of the ATC systems.
Responsibilities:
- Designs major mechanical components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
- Generates parts lists and change documentation to support product life cycle maintenance.
- Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.
- Develops data and makes parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
- Define and maintain configuration management through ERP/BOM/Parts Lists to ensure released engineering data quality, including obsolescence of electronic components.
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, obsolescence, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Adheres to participate in all EHS practices and standards across the site, including but not limited to proactive reporting of observed hazards and recommendations to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
Requirements:
- College Diploma or University Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience, preferably Electronic or Electrical Engineering
- Preferably with at least 4 years of involvement in a design organization producing mechanical component level designs and configuration management
- Familiarity working with electronic components, and reviewing supplier specifications to match requirements.
- Advanced experience in any of these design software applications: NX/Solid Edge or other complex CAD software applications
- Knowledge of using NX is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ERP applications, such as MS Dynamics/SAP, and PLM/PDM systems, such as Team Center, is an advantage.
- Design experience of major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
- Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
