NightWing is supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats.  NightWing is seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Administrator to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities. 

Job Responsibilities:

Provides ongoing systems administration, technical support, upgrades, and troubleshooting services.

Provide full coverage for Linux or Unix system administration functions to support the DevOps tool sets.

Install, configure, support, and maintain middleware (e.g., JBoss, Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, etc.) to support the DevOps tool sets.

Works closely with application and product teams in understanding their specific automation requirements and implement with them an optimal CICD pipeline.

Write unit tests and integration tests to validate infrastructure code.

Identify engineering defects in the existing code base and constantly improve the code quality.

Maintain configuration and support documentation.

Manage assigned project components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.

Develop, through programming and scripting, automation to further expand and refine the DevOps tool sets.

Work closely with the software development teams in defining their DevOps CICD pipeline and processes and implement and configure the DevOps tools with them.

Incorporate AWS native cloud services and features to enhance the performance and resilience of the DevOps tools and infrastructure.

Contribute and collaborate to design, document, and publish DevOps and cloud standards, principles, guidelines and best practices.

Seek opportunities to increase the business value of the DevOps tool chain through research and investigation, application team input, automation options, POCs, etc.

This position will primarily support Shift 2 operational tasking.

Required Skills:

Must be a US Citizen

Must have an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability

6+ years of system administration in Linux, ideally Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 7 or 8 (RHEL7 / RHEL8) with the ability to engineer, install, administer and maintain complex system architectures

Experience with Linux OS installation, security hardening, and maintenance

Experience with administration and management of Linux servers to include installation, configuration, optimization, backup & recovery

Experience with Linux performance tuning & troubleshooting, identifying and resolving contention in CPU, memory, networking, disk I/O, etc

Experience with products such as Red Hat Satellite Server, Puppet, Chef and/or Ansible

Desired Skills:

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible or other comparable products

Experience working in an agile development environment

Experience with software development using java, RESTful services

Comfortable with multilevel security systems, SELinux, and/or Cross Domain Solutions

Experience with data orchestration software such as Apache NiFi or StreamSets

Experience with distributed compute environments such as Hadoop

Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform capabilities, including good understanding of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Well-Architected Framework, AWS certification

Experience working in AWS via the CLI and management console. Knowledge and experience configuring Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs)

Experience working in DevOps and/or DevSecOps environments

Familiarity with the following technologies in a cloud environment: ELK Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana), Ansible, Nessus, Zscaler, ClamAV, AIDE, Splunk, DNS, NAT, git, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Jenkins

Required Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field.   Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

Desired Certifications:

DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
