Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, real estate or industrial class development, or other related areas of technical expertise.
  • Passionate about trustworthy data, transparent metrics, and making technical jargon accessible to the wider organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

As our products and services scale the globe, the Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team works behind the scenes as a dynamic team within Google responsible for delivering the infrastructure capacity needed to support Google's rapidly growing product portfolio. The Cloud and Asset Portfolio Solutions (CAPS) team sits within ELS, and we manage a complex portfolio of infrastructure projects, ensuring that Google's services have the resources they need to operate seamlessly and reliably. CAPS performs location strategy and portfolio management to determine where, why, and how much infrastructure assets Google needs to seamlessly scale into the future. We provide the programs, strategies and tool sets for our regional negotiation and execution teams to consistently make high-quality decisions at scale, faster and with less risk to meet the needs of Google’s business.

In this role, you will effectively examine the current state and work with the team to define implications and opportunities for continuous improvement. You will be an essential team member envisioning, and then transitioning a portfolio governance concept into practical artifacts and plans for action. You are comfortable executing on multiple projects and programs that are aligned with organizational priorities, while producing the intended results within the timeframe committed. You will inspire innovation to solve challenging problems, delivering results that have a major impact on the current and future success of Google.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Develop governance processes, standards, and methodologies specifically related to tracking Google’s data center portfolio through the ingestion and acquisition cycle.
  • Develop and maintain tooling and workflows for data collection, processing, visualization, and reporting of cost, schedule and throughput metrics for data center acquisition and asset management within Google.
  • Track completion, ensure consistency and quality of data collection, and measure progress of acquisitions and project development against defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide excellence in communications, actively responding to questions from stakeholders about technical design and process standards, resolving concerns through collaboration and cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Document lessons learned and implement regular change management programs to ensure that ELS’s programs maintain defined quality and accuracy standards.
