Software Engineers at Expedia Group develop solutions and products that touch millions of people every day around the globe. We are looking for strong technical talent as well as a keen desire to deeply understand our products and services to push our technology forward with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, and scalability.
You’ll work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the industry. As a participant of the Shopping Experience team, you’ll estimate engineering efforts, design your changes, implement and test your changes, push to live and triage production issues. You need to be collaborative, and curious as we build new experiences and improve existing products powering the world’s largest travel mobile apps at a scale only a few companies can match
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Design team, TPMs and other developers to accelerate mobile app development for our Flights Shopping Line of business. Our mobile app is used by 16 million people across the globe every month and users are growing in high double digits YO-Y
- Work with peers across the environment and collaborate to tackle high impact business problems.
- Develop and test standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
- Apply strong software design principles, data structures and computer science fundamentals to write clean, maintainable and optimized code.
- Will innovate and implement new ideas to tackle sophisticated software problems and prototype creative solutions tenable product MVP's.
- Work on user centered research practices and data oriented methodologies to understanding customer needs
Experience and qualifications:
- Solid understanding of Android development environment and UI Design practices.
- 2+ Experience of working in Android environment.
- Developing software in a team environment using agile methodologies, strong version control practises and good grasp on release management.
- Have developed Android apps using Kotlin programming language that is available to be viewed in the Play Store.
- Familiarity with other relevant languages for Android Native development is a strong plus
- Prior experience as a Mobile Engineer applying new engineering principles to improve existing systems, implementing new features including leading sophisticated, well defined projects.
- Have solid coding skills. Understanding of clean code, as synchronous programming, unit tests, and auto-layout.
- Familiarity with associated technologies within the specialization as part of the wider ecosystem.
- Understanding of how projects fit together within the team.
- Ability to test, debug and monitor your own code.
