About the job

Help serve Google's worldwide user base of more than a billion people. Data Scientists provide quantitative support, market understanding and a strategic perspective to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.

The Growth and Notifications Team (GaNT) Analytics is all about data, quality, and teamwork. Engineers work side by side with analysts and product in a collaborative atmosphere to build products that affect users.

The GaNT Analytics Team works to shape the future of growth and notifications across Google’s products like YouTube, Photos, and Maps through developing a deep understanding of what drives growth and engagement across the Google ecosystem. Specifically, we look at problems like: What are signals for notification satisfaction or harm? What information is most useful to users on new devices, and much more.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business needs, formulate and complete end-to-end analysis (data gathering, analysis, scaled deliverables), and share results and recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Format, re-structure, and validate data to ensure quality.
  • Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
  • Define and evaluate experiments within the team and across Google with collaborators.
