This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months.
Position Summary:
The Headcount Governance Project employee reports to the People Analytics & Reporting Lead and is responsible for headcount governance and support to the NBA HR team. This role leverages data analysis and process improvement skills to ensure headcount tracking and reporting.
The individual in this role will be responsible for collaborating with the Finance Department and stakeholders across HR including regional HR leads, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and HR Operations to manage organizational headcount and hiring approvals.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for headcount governance processes, ensuring accurate and timely updates across HR systems to maintain data integrity.
- Perform HRIS maintenance, audits, and updates to accurately track various headcount types and aid partner accountability, ensuring that all vital fields are accurately populated for effective headcount tracking.
- Manage employee headcount tracking across the organization accounting for any employee lifecycle changes (i.e. hires, terminations, transfers, manager changes, cost center changes, etc.)
- Identify and address cost center coding discrepancies, working with Finance and HR to implement corrective measures.
- Deliver cadenced headcount reporting in Excel and/or Tableau, including actual vs target analysis, aiding in strategic workforce planning.
- Maintain the headcount summary and its underlying data to ensure accuracy across multiple Excel trackers.
- Schedule regular meetings with regional HR teams to ensure accuracy for active headcount, upcoming roles, and staffing plans.
- Leverage Qualtrics to pull incoming hiring committee requests for senior level review.
- Draft weekly communications to Finance and HR stakeholders, highlighting any changes/requests.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, and a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in HRIS management or workforce planning.
- Demonstrable ability to collaborate effectively with HR and Finance teams.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in headcount tracking and reporting.
- Proficiency in scenario planning and identifying process improvements.
- Have experience or general knowledge across HR functions (HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations).

Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000
