What You'll Do
As a Senior Manager within the Multistate Tax Investment Management group, you will identify effective state tax and compliance solutions for a diverse client base in the investment management industry including private equity funds, hedge funds, management companies, and family offices to name a few. You will work directly with the client, manage the tax engagement team, have access to an elite group of specialists when needed, and be connected to a strong support system from firm Leadership to ensure you are set up for success in your role and career.

With more than 1,500 professionals worldwide include former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, and technology personnel with years of multistate tax experience. Collectively, our team has significant experience with nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states. Our team's overall practice specific services include investment management services, state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $134,960 to $285,740.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships on various tax consulting/compliance engagements in the investment management arena.
- Identifying client needs and leveraging Deloitte's range of services and extensive resources to meet those needs and cross sell among various lines of service.
- Acting as a trusted business advisor to clients on a variety of issues including multistate tax planning, accounting for income taxes, restructuring, audit defense, and due diligence.
- Managing engagement profitability, billings to clients, and engagement team resources.
- Assisting with drafting and presenting new proposals to new and existing clients.
- Providing leadership, counselling, and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team.

Qualifications
Required
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
- 8+ years' experience in state income and franchise tax, with experience in the Investment Management industry
- Proven ability to grow and manage a book of business and a solid reputation as a subject matter expert within state income and franchise tax
- Demonstrated experience with state and local pass-through and corporate tax returns
- Demonstrated experience with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- One of the following accreditations obtained:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred
- Supervisory experience
- Public Accounting experience
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Excellent presentation and communications skills
