Director, Learning and Development (Tech Learning) [Gurgaon Based]

Introduction to team

Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability

The Director of L&D for Product and Technology will spearhead the creation, implementation, and enhancement of learning initiatives that cultivate both current and future capabilities within our global tech workforce. Based in Gurgaon (India), this role collaborates closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), senior leaders, and cross-functional teams across APAC and worldwide, including our headquarters in Seattle, USA. The Director will design and deliver impactful learning solutions that address evolving skill requirements, support our product and technology roadmaps, and foster a culture of continuous growth and innovation.

In this role, you will:

  • Global Learning Strategy: Lead the development and execution of learning strategies for product and technology teams, aligning with local and global goals.
  • Collaborative Partnership: Partner with HRBPs and tech leaders across APAC to identify key skills and create scalable learning solutions.
  • Program Design & Facilitation: Create and deliver engaging learning programs (workshops, coaching, mentoring) that enhance technical skills and leadership using in-person and digital methods.
  • Champion of Learning Culture: Foster a culture of continuous learning by promoting self-directed initiatives and sharing industry trends and best practices.
  • Metrics & Evaluation: Set and track metrics to evaluate learning program effectiveness, using feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Global Engagement: Collaborate with local leaders in India and across APAC, while maintaining strong ties with headquarters in Seattle to ensure programs are cohesive and relevant.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree & Certifications: Master’s/MBA or certifications in L&D, Organizational Development, or Leadership Development preferred, along with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Senior Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a senior L&D leadership role with global responsibilities, ideally in a tech-focused or multinational organization.
  • Impactful Learning Strategies: Demonstrated success in creating and implementing effective learning strategies in collaboration with cross-functional and regional teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Experience working with senior leaders, HRBPs, and technical teams across diverse regions, particularly in APAC and familiarity with US-based headquarters.
  • Project Management & Global Scaling: Background in managing global projects and scaling learning initiatives across different cultures and geographies.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to measure learning impact through metrics and leverage data to refine programs and strategies.
