About The Role
We're looking for an inspiring hands on engineering leader to drive our Middleware Reliability Engineering team at Visa. You'll guide a diverse group of talented engineers ensuring billions of transactions flow seamlessly across the world's largest payment network. This role balances technical leadership with people management, focusing on building both reliable systems and high-performing teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead & Develop Teams: Mentor and grow a team of Product Reliability Engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation
- Drive Technical Excellence: Guide architectural decisions and reliability standards across Visa's middleware platforms
- Champion Automation: Spearhead initiatives to automate operations, reduce toil, and improve system resilience
- Manage Incidents: Lead major incident response strategies and drive systematic improvements
- Build Partnerships: Collaborate with global engineering teams to align reliability practices and standards

Leadership Experience
- 5+ years of engineering/operations experience with 2+ years in technical leadership
- Track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams
- Experience managing incident response and on-call rotations
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Success in driving technical initiatives across multiple teams
Technical Background
- Strong foundation in middleware technologies (Tomcat, Apache, Springboot, SQS, JBoss, IBM MQ, IBM DataPower, Hazelcast, Flink, Connect Direct, SSL)
- Understanding of modern infrastructure (Containers, Kubernetes, Cloud Platforms)
- Experience with observability tools and practices (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)
- Knowledge of automation and CI/CD practices

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:-
- 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 12+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:-
